Summary
Illinois Central College is seeking a qualified individual to provide lecture and laboratory instruction and student support activities for the existing CNC/Machine Tool Technology and Welding Technology programs.
Essential Functions

- Provide CNC/machine tool technology and welding students with appropriate college-level instruction and hands-on experiences that allow them to advance through associate of applied science degrees in CNC/Machine Tool Technology or Welding Technology.
- Organize courses of practical and technical instruction including the demonstration of the skills required by the industry, lectures on safety, theory, practices, methods, processes and terminology.
- Instruct students in the areas of welding processes, blueprint reading, metrology, manufacturing processes and related topics.
- Plan and supervise the work of students in the classroom and laboratories.
- Inspect and certify welds produced by college students and corporate trainees.
- Evaluate the progress of students’ technical knowledge and skills.
- Assist in ordering supplies for instruction.
- Meet with corporate partners, advisory council members, and other colleagues to develop new curriculum to improve courses or add to existing programs.
- Follow College corporate procedures, rules, and regulations for safe operation and practice.
- Ensure the equipment functions safely, properly, and meets requirements.
- Be able to work on a team with full-time adjunct faculty and staff members.
- Perform related duties as required.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Machine Tool Technology, Industrial/Manufacturing Technology, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Operations Management, Welding Technology, or Industrial Technology OR Associate’s Degree in Machine Tool Technology, Industrial/Manufacturing Technology, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Operations Management, or Welding Technology AND a minimum of 2000 work hours as CNC machinist, manual-machinist, or welder OR Technical diploma &/or certificate in a Welding & a minimum of 4000 work hours as a welder OR 10 years’ work experience as CNC machinist, manual-machinist, or welder OR American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector (AWS CWI) & a minimum of 30,000 work hours as a welder.
- Ability to instruct students by explaining, demonstrating and overseeing their exercises and giving advice on the immediate topic.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Machine Tool Technology, Welding, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, or related field.
- Five years’ experience in teaching machining and/or welding.
- Two years’ experience teaching machining and/or welding at the college level.
